From pioneer to market leader
Maltha´s history stretches back more than 90 years. From a local player in the Dutch town of Schiedam, Maltha grew to become one of Europe´s leading glass recyclers: today Maltha is active with 8 specialised processing locations in five European countries.
Maltha processes a total of over 1 million tonnes of glass waste each year. To illustrate this amount: if you were to set this quantity in wine bottles upright next to one another, you would cover almost 4,500 football fields. Or, if you were to line up these bottles in a row flat on the ground, you could go around the Earth no less than two times!
Maltha has locations in the Benelux, France, Portugal and Hungary where we process both packaging glass and flat glass into new raw materials on specialised lines. In the meantime, companies like Vidrociclo (recently renamed Maltha Portugal Ltd.) and IPAQ also form part of our portfolio. This makes Maltha one of the largest recyclers of glass waste in Europe.
